New Anthropologie…Kings Road London
A few weeks ago I mentioned that the new Anthropologie store in London was showing signs of life…a few weeks later and voila, London has the second international Anthro store (the first was just a few miles away on Regent Street). As it opened yesterday, we strolled down today to see how the uber talented visual team could take an old antiques store and ‘anthro’ it…
I can’t say that there is anything ‘omigosh, how did they do that’ in the store…but they didn’t dissapoint. The piece de resistance would be the indoor waterfall/water feature and the indoor trees and garden. Hah. That in any other store would be jaw dropping but somehow I’ve become desensitized…but not any less in love. Also on the love list are the paper mache animal heads (already added to my mile long to-do list), laser cut panels, wooden camel piled high with gorgeous rich textiles and floor tiles so beautiful I wanted to chisel them off right then and there. Plus there are the ever present array of textures from a rainforests variety of wood textures, tiles, doodled wallpaper, painted felt, moss etc. Oh, and who could forget the dress form wearing a beautiful shirt and long trained skirt made out of…moss. Yes, moss. The building itself is fabulous…it originally started as a gentleman’s club and pool hall in the 1920’s and is littered with different natural light sources. We got quite distracted planning how we would use the space as our home/studio/shop. Oh yah..and it sells some nice stuff too, but you already knew that, right?
